The President visited the 14th specialized agricultural and related industries exhibition being held in Bojnourd.
According to the World Future Agriculture report, citing the government information base, Masoud Pezzekian, continuing the programs of the second day of the provincial visit of the National Accord Government to North Khorasan Province, visited the 14th agricultural and related industries exhibition in North Khorasan Province being held in Bojnourd.
The exhibition was held with the presence of 45 companies in 105 booths and the province's capabilities in producing various agricultural, horticultural, livestock and poultry products, tools and equipment for the agricultural sector, and transformation and related industries of this sector were displayed.
During his visit to the exhibition, the President talked with the exhibitors and was closely informed about the activities, latest achievements, and technologies of the province's knowledge-based companies in the field of agriculture.
According to the report; North Khorasan has 344,000 hectares of agricultural land, of which 300,000 hectares are arable and the rest are gardens, and more than 80,000 agricultural operators are active in this area. Most of the province's employees are employed in the agricultural sector. Agriculture in North Khorasan accounts for 1.1 percent of the country's gross agricultural production, and 70 percent of these products can be stored, preserved, and processed.

On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, the Minister of Agricultural Jihad held a meeting with media representatives at the head of the relevant ministry on the occasion of the 120th day of his activities, in which more than 50 journalists from the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation, national newspapers, news agencies, news sites, and specialized publications in the agricultural sector participated.
The Minister of Agricultural Jihad, pointing out that the media plays an important role in society and helps the country's managers to follow the right path more accurately through the free flow of information, transparency, and criticism, said: The criticism and role of the media should be welcomed. We need media criticism in the agricultural debate. The issue of promotion and information is important in this ministry, and we use the capacity of the media to convey the messages that are produced in the decision-making authorities to publish and disseminate them to the people.
The Minister of Agricultural Jihad continued: "In this short period after entering the ministry, we have identified issues and problems and pursued long-term, medium-term and short-term solutions based on upstream laws, especially the Seventh Planning Plan Law, and the demands of farmers and wheat growers from the government, and the facilities that had been cut off in the field of mechanization have been restored."
The Minister of Agricultural Jihad said in this meeting that the agricultural sector, as the country's food supplier, cannot be affected by power outages and energy shortages, because these problems cannot be compensated for in the future and sustainable energy must be provided to this sector immediately.
Continuing his speech, the Minister of Agricultural Jihad emphasized that the necessary resources will be provided and implemented to realize these programs, referring to the precise and detailed implementation of the Seventh Development Plans.
He added: "Some programs require financial resources that may not be realized in the first year, but the government is determined to achieve the greatest efficiency from the least resources by prioritizing."
The Minister of Agriculture Jihad also noted: The government's goal at the end of the presidential term is to reduce sugar imports to zero and reduce imports of tropical products such as bananas in the next four years.
120-day report on the ministry's activities
The Minister of Agriculture Jihad added: In line with these programs, a 120-day report on the ministry's activities has been presented, which includes measures and plans to resolve problems and obstacles in the agricultural sector.
He added: Facilities in the fields of mechanization, pricing, and production support policies have been seriously pursued, and in a short time, nearly 20 items of basic agricultural products have been priced.
In this meeting, he spoke about transparency and elimination of monopoly and corruption in relevant systems, the issue of production decline due to energy shortages in the agricultural sector that cannot be reversed in the next month or the next season, the country's actions in the field of FATF and its impact on international agriculture and the government's determination to implement international programs, the government's plan for self-sufficiency in rice and maintaining strategic reserves, the import of contaminated rice into the country, reducing dependence on meat imports and supporting domestic production, the 14th government's strict supervision of people's livelihoods, changes in foreign exchange policy aimed at supporting domestic production, supporting the private sector and domestic capabilities to achieve self-sufficiency in agricultural products, management changes and programs based on merit and capabilities, serious restrictions on water and a worrying ranking in soil erosion, emphasizing the health of Iran's agricultural products, the tasks of the Seventh Development Plan for the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad, the end of the cultivation pattern program, and the gap between the price of farm products and the market.

In the public meeting on Tuesday (June 20th) of the Islamic Council, examining the plan and qualifications of Mohammad Ali Nikbakht for the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad and obtaining a vote of confidence was on the agenda, and after presenting the report of the Agricultural Jihad Commission and the representatives for and against the proposed minister, Nikbakht 198 votes in favor, 40 votes against and 10 abstentions out of a total of 248 were elected as the Minister of Jihad and Agriculture.
After Sadatinejad, Nikbakht is the second Minister of Jihad and Agriculture of the 13th Cabinet.
On April 12, 2023, Sadatinejad was dismissed by President Ayatollah Raisi, and Aghamiri was in charge of the Ministry of Jihad and Agriculture for about two and a half months.

Cage-free model egg farm and training centre to be built in China

Shanxi Agricultural University, together with Global Food Partners, have announced that they will construct China’s first cage-free training centre and model farm.
While the demand for cage-free eggs is climbing in China, numerous egg producers have expressed a need for more training and technical support to transition to or optimise their cage-free production systems. A first of its kind in China, Shanxi Agricultural University and Global Food Partners said that the new centre “will give producers the training they need to ensure sustainability, including good welfare practices and a competitive business advantage”.
The centre will aim to provide practical training in best practices in cage-free management, offer a research and development centre and serve farmers, auditors, veterinarians and other industry stakeholders regionwide, the partners announced.
A retrofitted cage
The farm will retrofit a cage facility and will act as a model for those farmers looking to transition from cage to cage-free. At the ceremony where the partnership was formally signed, Liu Wenzhong, dean of the College of Agricultural Standardisation of Shanxi Agricultural University, stated: “This project will demonstrate best practices in cage-free egg production and showcase good management for cage-free farms. Additionally, we will provide cage-free egg production training, as well as a communication channel for stakeholders, and help cage-free farms increase their profits. We hope that this project will promote the collaboration between industry, academia and research, form cage-free egg production standards and promote the sustainable development of cage-free egg production.”
Best practices
At the event, the partners also launched new ‘Best practice guidelines’ for cage-free egg production in the country. The Guidelines outline recommendations for best practices in cage-free egg production, including for biosecurity, hen welfare and management, and disease control.
